GETTING STARTED

How do I enter America’s Next Best Celler contest?
Create an account and register for the contest at Textnovel.  Then simply start a story and make sure it has at least 20 chapters by November 1, 2009.  Increase your chances of winning by inviting your friends to vote for your story. Also make sure that your story follows the
Contest Rules.

How do I add to my story by email?
Send an email to: add@textnovel.com. The body of the email should contain the text that you want to add to the story. The subject of the email should have the following format: storycode:chapter number. So, for example, if the story code is 12 and the chapter number is 2, then the subject should be 12:2. If you want to add a new chapter, then make sure to use the next number in order (so if you already have 10 chapters, to add a new chapter you would use 11 as the chapter number). If you don't reference a chapter, the site will automatically add a new chapter.

How do I add to my story by text message?
From your cell phone, send an MMS text message to add@textnovel.com. You might need to save this email address as a contact in your phone first.  Follow the instructions above for sending an email about the subject and body of your MMS—the same rules apply!

*    Should none of the 10 finalists, in the opinion of Dorchester’s editorial team, be publishable and saleable in the U.S. market, Dorchester reserves the right to review and select a winner from all eligible/original entries. The decision of the judges is final.

WINNER NOTIFICATION.
The winner will be chosen and notified by Dorchester at the end of January 2010.

Sponsor and Host assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or delay in the operation or transmission of any entry, or the destruction, unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries. Sponsor and Host are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer networks, servers or computer network providers, computer equipment, software, hardware, e-mail or any combination thereof, including injury or damage to entrant’s or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading materials in this contest.  If, for any reason, the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest is corrupted, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole and exclusive discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. • Make your story private or public. Use a pen name or your own name.
  • Invite co-authors to contribute to and help you write your story.

What is a serial?
A serial is defined as an ongoing story issued in successive parts that is intended to be continued indefinitely.  Serials may be issued in print or electronic format.

We suggest that each serial installment be limited to approximately 500 words.

May I submit more than one entry?
You may submit an unlimited number of serials for this contest but we suggest you limit yourself to no more than two or three.
